Rules and Regulations

Sprinters

REGULATIONS JAGUAR XJ6-SPRINTER SERIES
(These regulations will apply from 1st January 2007 & Revised 8th Feb 2009)

 

ELIGIBLE CARS

Four door series 1, 2 or 3, XJ6 Jaguar sedans and Daimler derivatives fitted with automatic or manual transmissions, manufactured between 1968 and 1987. Intermixing of components between these models is permitted.

All modifications are prohibited except for :

BODYWORK

It is permitted to lighten the bodywork by removal of non-functional components; body chrome (grill, bumpers etc,) interior trim including rear seats, heater, electrics, some internal panels (i.e., bonnet and bootlid strengthening panels, internal boot panels). A bonnet safety device is required. Boot must be accessible for scrutineering & emergency purposes.

An acceptable roll cage must be fitted as per CAMS regulations Schedule J or in accordance with CAMS issued Log Book.

All four doors are to be functional and capable of being opened externally and front doors also internally with interior door trim retained or replaced with a suitable panel.

All window glass is to be retained. Both front door windows are to be fully operational. Front windscreen to be laminated and have a wiper effective in front of driver.

Both front seats to be functional, but may be substituted by any approved drivers racing seat (See CAMS Schedule C). Both front seats to be of similar type. Full harness seat belts are required on both front seats as per schedule I of CAMS regulations.

Front & rear arches may be modified by rolling the inner lip without increasing overall width of vehicle and retaining the original arch profile. Series 2 & 3 front guards may be fitted to a series 1 vehicle.

Series 1, 2 or 3, dash to be retained with instruments in place.

ENGINE

Six cylinder DOHC must be of Jaguar production. Engine may be moved rearwards up to a maximum of 2 inches from original mount. Maximum capacity 4.2 litres with maximum overbore .040", any size under or matching of components so as not to exceed this capacity is permitted. Pistons may be fly -cut for valve relief. Cylinder head (valve head sizes must not exceed those of a series 3 types). Porting and polishing permitted provided the identity of the original head can always be established. Internal balancing permitted. Ignition unrestricted. Cooling system may be modified.

Engine may be sealed after internals being inspected by the appointed XJ-Sprinter Eligibility Officer. In accordance with his instructions prior to assembly it will be accepted by all owner/drivers that such engine is within the rules and will not be required to be dismantled in the event of a protest unless so requested by the Eligibility Officer. Unsealed engines may be required to be disassembled after any meeting by the Eligibility Officer.

CARBURETTORS

S.U. or Stromberg type as originally fitted by Jaguar. No modifications to S.U. bodies. Internals on both S.U. & Stromberg types free. Air cleaner unrestricted. No forced induction allowed. Rammed air intake, no restriction within the engine bay, but any intake protruding outside the front of the radiator is restricted to a maximum size of 100 square cm. FUEL Must be Commercial Fuel as per CAMS Schedule G (ie standard as available for normal road use), AVGAS permitted. Tank and pump unrestricted .   EXHAUST Jaguar cast iron headers to be retained. Remainder of system unrestricted.

Must be silenced to 75 dB measured at a distance of 30m from the track and exit of exhaust system to be situated not less than 18" behind front doors.

TRANSMISSION

Automatic type - BW8, BW12, BW65 or BW66 must be type fitted to XJ6 series 1, 2 or 3. May be modified for manual operation and have a high stall converter. Manual types - must be a manual gearbox of any manufacture with a maximum of 5 forward gears, clutch flywheel & bellhousing type unrestricted.

SUSPENSION

Any match of series 1, 2 or 3 components is permitted. Springs must be of unmodified proprietary manufacture. Damper assemblies are free. Altered sway bars front and rear permitted.

GROUND CLEARANCE

Minimum ground clearance of 100mm measured from beneath front crossmember and differential housing plate to ground.  

STEERING

Rack and pinion type. Power assistance unrestricted. Steering wheel free in accordance with CAMS regulations. Steering lock to be disabled/removed.

FINAL DRIVE ASSEMBLY

Ratio and limited slip unrestricted.    

BRAKES

Any match of series 1, 2 or 3 components. Rotas are free but must be of unmodified proprietary manufacture with same dimensions as original Jaguar rota. No anti-lock device allowed. Relocation of components and use of balance valve permitted. Pad material unrestricted.

WHEELS

Rims are unrestricted but must be in either maximum diameter of 15", 16" or 17" with a maximum width of 7" and approved by the Eligibility Officer.  

TYRES

Must be a radial type tyre for road use in a roadworthy condition as interpreted by the Eligibility Officer. Minimum aspect ratio: 60% or.. Controlled Tyre (Not Compulsory): The Yokohama A032R (in either 205/60R15, 225/60R15 or 225/50R16) or the Dunlop DO1J 225/50/16, approved CAMS Production Car List tyres and approved by the Eligibility Officer have been selected as optional controlled tyres.

BATTERY

Must be in the original location or may be located in the boot but must be securely mounted and fully covered. Battery indicator sticker (coloured blue in the shape of a triangle) must be affixed to the exterior of the vehicle to indicate the location of the battery. If a "kill-switch" is fitted, then the appropriate sticker (blue coloured in shape of triangle with a coloured lightening bolt ) must be affixed to the vehicle to indicate location .

FIRE EXTINGUISHER

Fire extinguisher of approved type to be securely fitted with bolts nuts and washes to the vehicle and to be within easy reach of the driver (when seated in drivers seat with harness correctly adjusted), or remotely activated.

LIGHTS

Inner headlights and indicators need not be functional. Headlights need not have dip function operational .   MIRRORS Rear view mirrors, internal and right-hand side minimum.  

WEIGHT

Minimum weight of 1300 kgs including lubricants and coolant, less driver . Ballast weight must be securely mounted in an unrestricted location.

ELECTRONIC TIMING

Only the times recorded by the official time keeper for the meeting shall be accepted as "official times" for Championship points.  

POINTS SCORING SYSTEM

Points will only be awarded for each timed session to vehicles displaying approved decals of the series sponsors name on the vehicle as directed by the Drivers Representative as follows;

Minimum of 1 point for attending meeting

In the event of a tie for any place, then those points awarded for that place and the following place to be added together and divided equally between both drivers. Championship points only awarded to the driver of any sprint car as nominated on the entry form (or with the approval of the clerk of course) on the day of the event. Points allocated for each timed session will be added and divided by the number of sessions completed at the completion of the day to determine the overall winner for the day and Championship points for the series.

DRIVERS REPRESENTATIVE

The duly elected Drivers Representative is given the power to adjudicate on all matters in relation to XJ-Sprinters. The decision of the Drivers Representative shall be binding on all drivers and they must comply with his decision or face exclusion.  

ELIGIBILITY OFFICERS

The duly elected Eligibility Officers for XJ-Sprint cars are to ensure that all cars comply with the regulations and be the sole adjudicator for any protests in relation to eligibility of any XJ-Sprint car.

REGULATIONS MODIFIED JAGUAR XJ6-SPRINTER SERIES

(These regulations will apply from 8 th February 2009)

FUEL

Must be Commercial Fuel as per CAMS Schedule G (ie standard as available for normal road use), AVGAS permitted. Tank and pump unrestricted .

EXHAUST

Headers and exhaust system are unrestricted except for:
