Winton is the track for round 5 of the JAGDAIM Sprinter series for 2010

A few of the drivers made the Friday practice session to get a few laps in before Saturday, with 15 Sprinters entered for the day.

First casualty was Pearmain with clutch problems that would force him to retire after the first timed session.  Despite retiring, Phil took the points for the un-modified class with 1.45.36, ahead of Thompson 1.48.42.

Following their dismal performance in the last round, both Wheeler and Randall were back with a vengeance.  Wheeler took the points in the first session for modified sprinters with 1.41.32, just ahead of Rob Sinclair 1.42.64 and Mackrell 1.47.18.  Next was Crosbie 1.49.14, Duncalf 1.50.00, Randall 1.50.05, Kenna 1.51.22, Ian Sinclair 1.52.14, Foster Jnr, 1.52.61, Yorke 1.52.69, John Larkins 1.53.42, Foster Snr, 1.56.62 and new comer, Stuart Cleland 2.04.81.

Thompson took the honours for the un-modified class with 1.47.48.

Wheeler was to suffer a loss of power with the sprinter only revving to 4000 rpm for the next session but he again took the points with a lap time of 1.42.95, just slower than his first posting.  The placing’s for the rest of the field did not change much except for Randall moving up to fourth place.  This loss of power on the JAGDAIM sprinter would haunt them for the rest of the day and you can only guess as to what times Wheeler and Randall may have achieved without the problem.

The final session did not see any real changes to the placing’s with Wheeler first 1.42.88, Rob Sinclair second 1.45.00 and Mackrell third 1.45.71. Fourth home was Randall 1.46.78, Crosbie 1.49.48, Duncalf 1.50.20, Ian Sinclair 1.50.81, Kenna 1.51.92, Yorke 1.52.08, Larkins 1.52.93 and Foster Snr, 2.06.03.  Thompson recorded his best time for the day with 1.45.93.  Foster Jnr and Cleland did not front for this session.  The Foster sprinter was having problems with the oil catchment tank.

The placing’s for round 5 were:

XJ6 Sprinters: 1st – Thompson.
XJ6 Modified Sprinters: 1st – Wheeler,  2nd Rob Sinclair,  3rd Trevor Mackrell

Thanks once again for our sponsor, JAGDAIM supporting our series.   The next round of the JAGDAIM XJ6 Sprinter series is to be run at Sandown on Saturday 30th October 2010.
