Wheeler is on a hat-trick… having set a new lap record at Sandown in February 2010, Brian Wheeler again lowered the lap record at Sandown in round 2 of the JAGDAIM Sprinter series. The second round was run on Sunday 16th May 2010 in overcast conditions. Entries were down with MacKrell, Robinson & Kenna late withdrawals. Rob Sinclair & Duncalf were both overseas. Paul is on a “retirement trip” whilst Rob was in France learning to cook. In the modified class, three drivers, Crosbie (1.39.09), Randall (1.32.83) & Wheeler recorded their fastest laps in the first session, with Brian breaking his lap record at Sandown with a blistering lap of 1.27.82. Ian Sinclair was third fastest in this session with 1.36.07 but would improve during the day and in the last session he recorded his fastest time of 1.35.68. Yorke improved over the day and was lapping at 1.37.10 in the third timed session. The father and son team of Foster Snr., & Jnr., are still fine tuning their new sprinter with only their second running. Foster Senior got down to a best time of 1.46.33 but his son managed to beat that time with 1.42.71. The Sprinter class was closer racing with Pearmain finishing ahead of Thompson with respective times of 1.33.6 and 1.34.1. However for the rest of the sessions, Thompson would reverse the placing’s. The overall placing’s for round 2 were: XJ6 Sprinters: 1st – Thompson, 2nd Crosbie. Thanks once again for our sponsor, JAGDAIM supporting our series.
