Panda & Chevy powered Sprinters take the points for round 4........
Practice
The weather was fine and the track cold, most Sprinters gathered on the dummy grid in one group. This was the first time out on this track for Ian Sinclair who would be carefully watching his lines. Brian Wheeler was out of the grid quickly with his modified sprinter. This was his third run for his upgraded vehicle now running in the new modified class.
All other vehicles had a good run with Dave Thompson and Trevor Mackrell swapping times.
All drivers had a clear track with no other issues.
First timed session
Again Brian went out looking for a lap record or two with Phil Pearmain and Dave Robinson dicing for the next position. Dave Thompson, Trevor Mackrell and Paul Duncalf were all mixing it up with Trevor coming out on top of this group. Stephen Yorke had some minor oil issues with his new motor, so once it returned to the pit assistance was at hand form many entrants. The problem was thought to be either distributor, shaft or rocker gasket leaking (remember this is running a Chev block and we know how Chev’s leak oil), sorry Steve. All other drivers enjoyed some close passing and good times for the conditions.
The Jagdaim entered car of Brian Wheeler had some bad luck with his clutch giving out after trying a passing manoeuvre on the Panda Motorsports vehicle of Phil Pearmain. Brain's car now has some serious speed and handling potential and will be a contender with Rob Sinclair in the new modified class.

2nd timed session
Brian could not remedy the clutch problem so was relegated to the pits for the remainder of the day. If Steve Yorke could overcome his oil problem he would have a shot of leading the new Modified Sprinter class.
This time out Phil Pearmain was caught behind an ex-sprinter and diced for three laps before making the pass, Dave Robinson showed a clean set of heals in the Kenna Motorsport vehicle setting some great times with all other drivers delivering very close times. Michael Crosbie was starting his move on the pack, however, his motor was starting to leak oil. Now with Mick and Stephen having oil leaks and the Kenna Motorsport vehicle starting to show signs of getting tired who would be around for the third and final session. John Larkins had tried a new set of brake pads for Winton (EBC red instead of yellow), the verdict is still out, but appeared successful on the day. The King Gee vehicle was on song all day with no other issues.

3rd timed session
The Kenna Motorsport vehicle was put on the trailer and was out for the third session. This was more a case of ensuring damage would not occur to the vehicle rather than a failure. Some time was spent assisting Stephen Yorke and the oil leak was resolved with some minor panel beating of the rocker covers (not sitting correctly). The final timed session was completed with no notable track incidents. Ian Sinclair finished the day with a time in the 1:54”s - what a great effort for his debut on this track.
The placing’s for round 4 were:
XJ6 Sprinters: Phil Pearmain first (18 points), MacKrell second (15) and David Thompson third (14).
XJ6 Modified Sprinters: Stephen Yorke topped the podium with (19 points), with Ian Sinclair second (16 points) and Wheeler third (6 points).
