Brian "Wheels" Wheeler driving the sponsor's sprinter has wrapped up the JAGDAIM XJ6 Sprinter series for 2008 with a win in round 5 run at the famous Phillip Island racetrack. With still one round to go, Brian's lead is unbeatable and he has dominated this year's series by competing at each round, in a car that is bullet-proof. The owners of JAGDAIM, Bill, Chris & Brian have shown that the Jagdaim winning sprinter is a great ambassador for their company.

Brian's usual co-driver, Gary Randall was unavailable for this round as he was in Singapore for the first F1 event run at night time. With the V8's in the middle of the endurance section of 2008, Brian has recalled his old co-driver, Dirk Redel for this event. Dirk was predicting sub 2 minute laps but not having competed for some time he was in need of some WD40 to remove the rust.

Rob Sinclair was once again suffering from mechanical problems with his red sprinter as it would not start. Wheeler located the problem with the isolation switch turned on and Rob was able to get some practice laps in. Rob is a red hot favourite to win the "Massey Ferguson" trophy for 2008.

Despite his problems, Rob was to have a great battle with Trevor Mackrell all day for second place in the championship. Trevor was once again under 2 minutes (1.59.54) and although Sinclair was faster (1.59.05) on the day both he and Mackrell shared the same points leaving Mackrell still second in the standings.

One of the surprises on the day was the speed and consistency of Mike Crosbie's new engine. Despite earlier problems the new engine is finally producing respectable times with a best time of 2.02.86.

Stephen Yorke in his modified V8 sprinter was in trouble after only 2 sessions and did not front for the last 2 timed sessions. He was joined by Dirk Redel, Barry Kenna and his son, William who all failed to make the grid for the last timed run. William Kenna was running for the first time in his father's sprinter and after a slow start, 2.36.78 he managed to lower his best time at the end of the day with 2.20.65.

Paul Duncalf was improving with his fastest lap in the first session with 2.04.07 but was slower for the remaining 3 sessions.

The final results for the day were; Wheeler in first place (1.58.02) with both Mackrell and Sinclair equal second from Crosbie, Duncalf, Redel (2.02.20), Barry Kenna (2.09.04), Stephen Yorke (2.10.98) and William Kenna (2.20.65).

The JAGDAIM XJ6 SPRINTER 2008 SERIES moves to Sandown on Saturday 1st November 2008 for the final round of this series. With Wheeler having sown up the championship, all interest will be in the battle for second and third place between Mackrell and Sinclair.
